Nacho Libre Soundtrack Info

The Nacho Libre Soundtrack is now available for purchase on Amazon.com and the iTunes Store! Thanks again to all who contacted Paramount to change their mind about releasing the soundtrack! Quite a few songs in the movie did not make it to the soundtrack; here is a list of every song used in the movie (thanks, Bartman!). The rest of my commentary below was made before the album was released.
Does anyone know what songs are on the Nacho Libre soundtrack? I know that "Bat Macumba" by Gilberto Gil is on there, as well as "Irene" by Caetano Veloso, and a new song by Beck, but I'm not sure about the rest. Both "Bat Macumba" and "Irene" can be found on the Tropicália: Brazilian Revolution in Sound album, an excellent retrospective of late 60's Brazilian pop. I've even read that Danny Elfman did the score for the movie, although I did not see his name in the credits (I could have just missed it though). I've searched Google and IMDB and have found very little details about the soundtrack. I'm hoping some other folks with deep music archives will know what else they heard during the movie.
Update: As folks have pointed out below, the "I am, I am" song is indeed called "Religious Man" by Mr. Loco. From a post on IMDB's Nacho Libre forum:
The song is Religious Man (Hombre Religioso) by a group named Mr. Loco. They were an obscure Mexico City band that sang only in english. You can find their albums on ebay sometimes. Beck bought the album somewhere for a dollar and brought it to the filmakers. One of their founding members, Jorge Garcia, does radio in Mexico now. They were surprised when they heard about their music being used in the film. BTW, I work for Paramount. Please no more Os Mutantes and other *beep* threads... Mr. Loco deserve the recognition!!!!
Another person on the IMDB board said that the official credit for the song says "Lyrics by George Garcia". One person said he had the song stuck in his head while brushing his teeth, and was ready to go to Mexico with a tape recorder to get the song. Paramount, if you are listening, we want the Nacho Libre soundtrack!
For those interested in contacting Paramount studios to ask for the soundtrack to be released, here is their contact information (snail mail only):
Paramount Studios
5555 Melrose Avenue
Hollywood, CA 90038Phone: 323.956.5000
If you do call and find out anything, please let us know.
Update #2: According to Carlos Castillon, Mr. Loco performed four songs in the movie: "Religious Man", "Bubblegum", "Mr. Loco" and "Papas". The song "Bubblegum" was done during the boot buying scene. "Mr. Loco" was done when Nacho and Esqueleto go up against other wrestlers. And of course "Religious Man" is played throughout the movie. Los Lobos performed "Saint Behind the Glass" before the credits ran. "Mucha Muchacha" by Esquivel was also in the film. Check the IMDB forum for more information.
Comments:

It's been played over 130 times today alone! Good song. very inspirational + funny when thinking about how nacho was helped to fly from the ring during the movie
(won't say anymore so as to not spoil anything - no that doesn't spoil anything)
Mike

Help please!!!!
Not sure if this will work, it is a picture. I was able to type the above-if the picture doesn't show- on other sites and it worked, but sometimes it did not. Oh well. Lord Kramdar knows of no way to post pictures :(
Mmmm Nachoes......
We need to hold the Jack Black hostage until they make the soundtrack! Then we release him. Just an idea.
LORD KRAMDAR
the invincible
Mr. Loco did "Religious Man" the one you hear all the time in the movie with the "I am I ams". Danny Elfman composed the instrumental version (especially for the movie).
Don't believe me? Go see the movie again and look at the music credits.
NAAAAAACHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!

Looks like their album Lucky Man contains all of the Mister Loco songs requested on this blog.
Good luck finding it - It was pressed in 1975.

and dont forget the ti-ight song "ska cha chase" by legendary composer Andrew Gross.
I JUST FOUND THE SONG WE HAVE BEEN LOOKING FOR WHEN NACHO IS WALKING AWAY IN SLOW MOTION. IT'S CALLED "10,000 PESOS" BY BECK. IT'S A PRETTY SHORT SONG, UNDER 2 MINUTES, BUT THE ACOUSTIC GUITAR AND BEAT IS AWESOME. HOPE YOU GET THIS.
However I did find a non-truncated version of "Hombre Religioso" here.

The other download site cuts off at 2:42, this is the full 3:10.
By the way nothing's wrong with downloading a track or two man, most of us are planning on buying the soundtrack anyway. Don't worry, it'll sell.
I called paramount 5 mins before I read John's post and said "i was wondering if you guys are planning on releasing the soundtrack..." and got cut off with the girl completing my sentence. She started laughing and said "Yes, it's in the works." She also said they've been getting so many calls regarding the Nacho Libre soundtrack release the past week. hahah Good job guys, this blog may have actually made them to decide on the soundtrack release.
John, I have to admit, I'm a little skeptical... Isn't everyone in Hollywood named Jon instead of John? Just kidding -- my name is Jon so I notice lots of other people with my spelling in movie credits. :^)

Btw, there was a song in the movie (don't know if it was listed in Spanish in the credits or not, cuz I don't know the name of the song, and either way, I don't speak Spanish!) that was a pretty big latin hit in the 60's, so if anyone knows what the heck the name of the tune I'm talking about is, lemme know, please! (You can email the info to me at karmadhyana@yahoo.com.)
Peace,
diane

All that is really missing now is two of the best songs from the movie!!! -
1. 'Mr. Loco' by Mister Loco - played when Nacho and Stephen fight the golden tag team...
2. 'Holy Man' by Beck - played when Nacho goes off into the 'wilderness' to die LOL...
I hear the voices
And what they tell
About heaven
About hell
About the life
We know so well
We had to throw away
Holy man
Holy man
Lord knows
I am a holy man
See the flower open to the sky
See the eagle learning how to fly
Fly away
Holy man
Holy man
Lord knows
I am a holy man
Holy man
Holy man
Lord knows
I am a holy man
Holy man
Holy man
Lord knows
I am a holy man
